Shure MVX2U Gen 2: A Major Upgrade for the “XLR Plug” Interface
A range of improvements for the ultra-compact USB audio interface.
Now in its 2nd generation, the Shure MVX2U has improvements to the hardware, as well as new DSP features and compatibility with mobile devices.
The MVX2U was originally released in 2023, providing musicians and creators with an ultra-compact solution for recording and streaming with 60 dB of gain, as well as phantom power for getting great results with both dynamic and condenser mics.

Compared to the original model, the MVX2U Gen 2 has upgraded the hardware, including an improved DA conversion stage with a lower noise floor and an improved headphone amp that performs optimally on a wider range of headphones. What’s more, for getting the cleanest signal possible, there are three new DSP features that can be applied in real-time.
This includes a denoiser for reducing background noise in any space, and Shure’s Digital Popper Stopper that hones in on plosives and reduces them while you’re recording. Also, there is an intuitive gain optimizer called Auto-Level Mode, to quickly get your best gain setting on any microphone.
One useful DSP feature buillt-in to the MVX2U Gen 2 is that it automatically restores the settings from your last session to streamline your workflow. This is useful because it saves you from spending time optimizing settings, so you can get to work immediately. Meanwhile, Shure has made the new version of the MVX2U completely mobile-friendly.
This means it will work perfectly in mobile setups with the iPhone and iPad, as well as Android devices. Overall, the MVX2U is an exciting little device because it lets you use your favourite microphone in your setup, wherever you are recording or capturing content.
