The rugged, all-metal body of the MTP 5 includes its mesh and grille with a protective ring that, together with the capsule’s placement, provides a barrier for performers who cup the microphone when using it. The capsule also uses a rubber suspension to reduce handling, with a built-in windshield that is washable for hygiene.
This makes the MTP 5 ideal for touring and stage environments, with its long-lasting durability and practical design approach. For optimal signal transmission even in noisy conditions, the MTP 5 uses a specially-designed dynamic capsule which captures vocal nuances and offers reduced sibilance compared to many other stage microphones.
Because the cardioid pickup pattern is localized, it provides isolation, so whether you’re using stage monitors or IEMs, you can expect the same level of clarity without feedback. Also, in the off-axis field, the MTP 5 has high-frequency reduction to avoid picking up instruments like cymbals on stage.
Overall, the MTP 5 seems like a worthy alternative to the AKG D5, which it closely resembles. According to the manufacturer, the high-frequency detail is excellent, and there is also a version of the MTP 5 with a switch for talkback purposes.
