The Apogee Symphony Nova features DSP and monitor correction with Apogee’s renowned AD/DA conversion in a slimline desktop format.

Last year, there were some pretty big developments in music tech, with Plugin Alliance founder Dirk Ulrich acquiring Manley Labs and Apogee. As analogue processing hardware is moving towards being controlled from your DAW as a standard, there is plenty of new tech to look forward to. How these two prestigious brands will work together in the future is unclear, but we’re excited about the prospect.

Apogee Symphony Nova

The Symphony Nova provides ARM-Powered DSP for all four of its mic inputs for tracking and mixing. This is a perfect solution for home recording, podcasting, and content creation as it allows you to use the new ECS Channel Strip, reverb, and delay effects in real-time. All running directly on the ARM processor, the ECS channel strip offers a range of processing features.

This includes a 4-band EQ with high and low-pass filters, as well as a compressor and saturation. With low-latency processing and monitoring, this allows you to do a fair bit of enhancement to your sounds before going into your DAW. In addition, the Symphony Nova has DSP monitor correction and allows you to use SoundID profiles for headphone calibration.

This means the Nova will help you adapt to the room you’re working in, and even if it’s not a treated environment, you can improve your results. What’s more, these processes are being handled by Nova’s DSP system, so it doesn’t put any additional strain on your native CPU.

For guitarists, there is a DI input and re-amping I/O inspired by the Ensemble series interfaces, which makes it easy to incorporate your amps and pedals into your DAW workflow. Meanwhile, the Nova offers ADAT expansion so you can extend your recording frontend and take on bigger projects like drum kit recording.
