EVH Wolfgang Specials in Aged Striped Finishes
1979 Vibes

Two new EVH Specials have arrived, complete in the iconic EVH striped finishes that we know and love.
EVH Aged Striped
EVH Wolfgang Special Str Aged RBW
Ah, we all love a bit of nostalgia. The fact that Wolfgang is still flying the flag for the EVH legacy is enough to make your heart melt. If the regular Wolfgang Specials weren’t enough, now we get this legendary red, white and black aged striped version. Nodding to EVH’s signature guitar.

Aside from the stunning visuals, it’s a regular EVH Wolfgang Special over here. Complete with your EVH Floyd Rose, D-Tuna, and an R2 locking nut. These all look wicked, along with the EVH-branded Gotoh machine heads, all of which are chrome-plated.
Killer looks have to match a killer sound. Therefore, we’ve got one overall volume and tone control along with a treble bleed circuit. Utilising twin direct-mount EVH humbuckers. Perfect for chugs and drive bombs.
EVH Frankie Striped MN Relic B/Y
Harking back to the Bumblebee of 1979, EVH have also dropped this Frankie in an equally as renouned black and yellow finish. This time, with the aged finish, adding artificial years of playing to the basswood body.

Being a relic, personally, I’d have liked some damage to the maple neck and headstock. However, I can forgive this thanks to the wicked job they’ve done with the Frankie body. Compared to the EVH Wolfgang Special, this super strat has just the single direct-mount EVH humbucker, along with a dummy Strat neck pickup.
Additional contrasts continue. Again, we have the EVH Floyd Rose package, this time with an R3 locking nut. Moreover, the black hardware looks so evil and menacing, which will match the killer tones perfectly.
Pricing and Availability
Both the EVH Wolfgang Special and the EVH Frankie Striped are avaliable to order right away from Thomann. However, the Wolfgang won’t be shipping for several months, whereas the Frankie is more like 9-12 weeks.
How much does the EVH Wolfgang Special cost? This is slightly more expensive than a regular model, sitting at *£1,475 / €1,689. Whereas the Frankie Striped in Black and Yellow retails for a more premium *£1,529 / €1,749. The siblings of these guitars are cheaper, just without the cool aged striped finishes.
Conclusion
The aged finish on these guitars looks like they’ve had a lifetime of touring, which is so badass. Furthermore, the modern EVH pickups and Floyd Rose appointments will make these shredding machines giggable, liveable and lovable.
