The M-Audio BX5BT is a compact active/passive studio monitor system with app-controlled 5-band EQ and room correction for your home studio.
The trusted M-Audio BX series has been around for over 20 years now, providing an accessible home recording solution that allows you to get decent results that translate onto common playback devices without the high price tag.

With the active/passive design, it means that the electronics and amp are contained within the left speaker, while the right is passive. The speakers themselves use 5-inch Kevlar woofers (50W) and 1-inch high-frequency drivers (10W) with waveguide design, delivering a frequency response of 49 – 20,000 Hz and a maximum SPL of 109 dB.
The DSP system and crossover use low-noise Burr-Brown A/D conversion and offer a range of convenient functions to customize the EQ. From the front panel, you can access the three speaker modes, including Flat for mixing, Hype for entertainment, and a Custom setting, which is adjustable from the accompanying Studio Control app.
Besides the 5-band EQ, the app also lets you make acoustic adjustments to compensate for any issues with your listening environment. The fact that this is all done remotely via the app is great, because you can sit in the sweet spot and analyze any changes you’re making to be sure of the accuracy, rather than fishing for switches behind the speakers.
The BX5BT is equipped with Bluetooth 5.3, which allows pairing with multiple devices, so you can play any reference tracks you’ve collected on your smartphone’s Spotify playlists. In addition, there are TRS connectors for balanced signals, so you can run the BX5BT straight from your audio interface.
