Cubase 14 – 40% off!

I was a big Cubase user in the early days. After dabbling on an Atari ST, I eventually upgraded to a Windows PC and bought Cubase 3 and benefitted from a grace period upgrade to Cubase VST! That was when there were about three VSTs available and they were all included in Cubase!

Every upgrade cycle, I ponied up another £100 for a new CD and LPT dongle until I got to SX1. And that was where Steinberg lost me. The software had become too messy, too unstable and, quite frankly, too expensive. I ended up moving to Reason and stayed there for many years.

As a music technology journalist, it is incumbent on me to keep up to date with lots of things, and DAWs are one thing I usually have to keep up to date with the latest version, if only to test things out. But I refused to do it with Cubase.

I’d since moved onto Logic and kept Reason for ideas creation. But a couple of years ago, the price dropped and, assured by colleagues who said that it was all good again, I pulled the trigger and got an amazing deal. And my friends were right, Cubase 14 was actually very good again!

And now you can do the same with a massive 40% discount on Cubase 14 Pro, Cubase 14 Artist and the Cubase 14 Pro Competitive Crossgrade. This sizeable discount is only available until the end of September, so get in there now.

Cubase 14 is back at its rightful position at the top of professional DAWs once again, and whilst it and Logic trade feature blows with a good old-fashioned case of ‘Keeping up with the Joneses’, Cubase 14 has amazing features and workflows that truly aid the creative process.

DAWs are a very personal thing, and you may well be tentatively hovering over the Buy button, but at these prices, can you afford not to take the leap?

Apogee Duet 3 Anniversary Bundle

If you’re going to treat yourself to a new DAW, there’s every good reason to treat yourself to a new audio interface. And they don’t come any slicker and sexier than the Apogee Duet 3. And right now, you can get the Duet 3 along with the Duet Dock for a significant discount.

The Apogee Duet 3 is a sleek and portable interface that sports dual audio inputs via TRS and XLR breakout cables. It connects to your computer via USB-C and features 24-bit/192kHz AD/DA converters for superb clarity and headroom.

The microphone preamp comes with 65db gain and switchable +48V phantom power. It has a beautiful, minimalist design and is perfect for recording on the move. But if all of those breakout cables don’t appeal, Apogee also make a Duet Dock that turns the rear of the Duet into something more resembling a regular audio interface.

The dock slots onto the rear of the Duet, elevating the rear to a nice angle and giving you proper sockets for your inputs and outputs, as well as an extra USB-C port. And now you can buy a bundle with a 17% discount for a limited time.

Tascam Portacapture X6 and X8

When it comes to portable, hand-held digital field recorders, Zoom are generally the name that springs to mind for most, but Tascam have always been a strong, if slightly more expensive, competitor. But with the Portacapture X6 and X8 currently boasting discounts up to 13%, you may well be swayed.

The larger X8 is a 6+2 track recorder, which means it can record 4 external inputs and 2 more via the microphones, plus a stereo mix of those 6. There’s a lovely big colour LCD touch screen with a bunch of recording presets to save you messing around when out and about.

Everything is stored on a microSD card with support for up to 512GB, and most importantly, you can record up to 32-bit and 192kHz, the former giving you zero clipping, perfect for volatile recording environments when setting the wrong levels might let you down.

The X6 is a smaller 4+2 track recorder with most of the same features but a smaller touch screen. That all-important 32-bit floating point resolution remains, but only up to 96kHz. Whilst it might lose a few features over the X8, it is the X6 that has the bigger discount!

If you’re looking for one of these plus a bunch of accessories, then why not look at the X8 bundle from our affiliate partner? As well as the X8 itself, they throw in a case, Bluetooth adapter and 4x AA rechargeable batteries, along with a 10% discount!

The Tascam Portacapture X8 is currently €419 and the X6 is just €299.
