With Sting 2, developer Iftah released an updated version of its acid generator for Max for Live. It recalls the legendary TB-303 sequencer and offers more sound and functionality possibilities. Its unique features are its improvisational workflow and the musical structure of the patterns, which are available in Ableton Live and in standalone mode with Push 3. This creates a workflow that allows for classic acid lines and experimental sequences with strong expressive power.

Sting 2 Brings Expressive TB-303 Sequences to Ableton Live

Sting 2’s wide range of sonic possibilities is based on an advanced algorithm that provides more punch and musical coherence, especially in the bass range. Users can switch between the new and original algorithms at any time to influence the sound behavior.

Sting 2 is playful and intuitive to use. Its minimalist user interface allows you to generate and edit patterns and morph them in real time. The central “Type” parameter influences the stylistic direction of the patterns, and “Density” determines how complex or rhythmically dense the sequence appears. In addition to basic controls for note count, offset, gate, and accent, Sting 2 features a direct MIDI clip export function. This means that generated patterns are immediately available as clips in Ableton Live. This integration saves time and supports the efficient handling of spontaneous ideas.

Additional features within the tool support detailed sound design. A modulation matrix provides precise control over various parameters, including velocity, aftertouch, and slide. The sound becomes particularly dynamic with the “Live” function, which makes automations feel organic and creates lively modulations. Whether you’re playing spontaneous jams or structured patterns, Sting 2 responds musically to every interaction, offering creative freedom on a whole new level.
