Strymon Free BigSky MX Preset Pack 1 with Nixie 2 Update
Unlock new sounds for your Strymon BigSky MX!
Strymon has announced a significant update to their Nixie 2 software, bringing full support for the BigSky MX dual-engine reverb pedal. It also comes with a free BigSky MX Preset Pack 1, so it is well worth checking out.
Free BigSky MX Preset Pack 1
This Nixie 2 update, now available, allows users to unlock the full creative potential of their BigSky MX, offering in-depth preset editing, backup capabilities, and community sharing.
It follows last month’s announcement of the Strymon Cloudburst Plugin, so it looks as though they have been busy programming, and thankfully, this time, users all get a free update to Nixie 2.
This desktop editor is a very useful tool, and the free preset pack contains some stuff Strymon created and thinks their users will love.
Version 2.2 is a Public Beta; therefore, I would suggest you back up any of your user presets before you download the new free patches.
What’s more, to celebrate this new integration, Strymon has released BigSky MX Preset Pack 1, a free collection of meticulously crafted sounds that showcase the pedal’s expansive range of reverb algorithms.

How To Access the Pack
It features sounds directly from Strymon’s original sound samples – tones that, while carefully crafted and highly inspiring, didn’t make it into the factory preset list.
To access the free presets, first download the latest Nixie 2 update from the link below. Open Nixie 2 and connect your BigSky MX, then click ‘File’ in the top left corner. Then select ‘Import Presets’ and locate the downloaded files on your computer. Choose the preset you wish to import and select ‘Open’.
These new presets will then appear under ‘BigSky MX’ in the LIBRARY list on the left side of Nixie 2.
Dive Deeper into Your BigSky MX Sounds
The Nixie 2 update transforms the way BigSky MX users interact with their pedal. Gone are the days of limited on-pedal tweaking; Nixie 2 provides a comprehensive interface to create and edit existing presets in real time. This means every parameter, every nuance of your BigSky MX’s rich reverbs, can be fine-tuned with instant auditory feedback.
Potentially, this will make it far easier to create new patches for users, and could make the unit even more studio-friendly, as users can edit in real-time via their computer screens.
Nixie 2 offers crucial backup capabilities so you know your hard work can be saved securely, once you have finished editing and building your presets. The update also allows users to share and explore presets with other Strymon users.
Strymon Pedal Support
For those with multiple Strymon pedals, Nixie 2 provides a streamlined solution to run multiple pedals together from one unified platform, simplifying workflow and control. The current list of supported pedals now includes BigSky, BigSky MX, Cloudburst, Iridium, Mobius, TimeLine, Volante, El Capistan, Flint, DIG, Deco, and blueSky.
Both the Nixie 2 update and the free BigSky MX Preset Pack 1 are available now via the Strymon website.
