Ball Family Reserve JP15: 2 Extreme Finishes!
EBMM Ball Family Reserve JP15 available in Toxic Sludge and Solar Flare finishes
Ernie Ball Music Man has just revealed the Ball Family Reserve JP15, a limited edition run of 100 instruments. Available in Toxic Sludge and Solar Flare finishes that will certainly turn heads!
Ball Family Reserve JP15
Each JP15 features a black limba body topped with a stunning buckeye burl. You can choose from two exclusive finishes: Toxic Sludge or Solar Flare. Only 100 guitars are made in each colour, making them highly collectible.
They are based on John Petrucci’s signature, just with much fancier woods and somewhat obnoxious/ cool (depending on your outlook) finishes. They both have gold hardware throughout, and so you’ll need to be a fan of the bling.
Roasted Figured Maple
The roasted figured maple neck is designed for speed and comfort, with a hand-rubbed oil and wax finish. It’s paired with an ebony fretboard, offering a smooth feel and bright, stable tone. EBMM knows how to build some exceptional feeling and playing necks, so expect these to be top-tier in terms of playability.
Sonic Ecstasy
Equipped with custom DiMarzio Sonic Ecstasy pickups and a piezo bridge system, the JP15 delivers a wide range of tones, from some fairly powerful electric tones to convincing faux acoustic sounds. You can also boost your signal with the onboard 20dB gain boost. Perfect for any prog players who need a versatile guitar that can cut through a mix.
For more flexibility, you can output in mono or stereo, and even send the piezo signal to a separate amp. I’ve owned the JP6 and the JP7 with a piezo in the past, and it is a great tool for in the studio, or live if you need a variety of tones, so being able to run in stereo makes this a nice, flexible, all-around instrument.
EBMM Ball Family Reserve Limited Edition
As these are Ball Family Reserve and a limited edition, they are quite pricey with an official MSRP of $4199 a piece. Each guitar comes with a tremolo cover signed by John Petrucci and a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Thomann has both models available: Toxic Sludge and Solar Flare.
