Strange Audio maniFold Σ: Ethereal Washes of Sound
Every once in a while, a free plugin comes along that does things a bit differently. maniFold Σ by Strange Audio is a mesmerizing “texture generator” that turns bits of audio into endless, atmospheric, floating textures and sound beds. If you’re into ambient music or cinematic sound design, this should be right up your alley.

At the core of maniFold Σ is a micro looper with eight independent play heads. Each head plays a 5-second audio buffer in real time. The position, length, panning, and playback speed are randomized, and you can freeze the buffer to capture and manipulate a specific portion of your source material.
The plugin also includes a cluster of 32 delay lines, which turn the looped signals into floating sonic textures. The Spread parameter allows you to spread out the base delay time across all 32 lines. Increasing the amount of feedback results in reverb-like sounds.
maniFold Σ is still in alpha, but it already seems to work quite well. The plugin is available on a pay-what-you-want basis. It runs on macOS and Windows and comes in AU and VST3 formats.
TiagoLr TIME-12: Creative Delay Modulator
After last week’s GATE-12, developer TiagoLr has released an updated and improved version of the TIME-1 plugin as well. Inspired by effects such as Shaperbox and GrossBeat, TIME-12 is a delay modulator that can produce a wide range of creative and glitchy effects like stuttering, tape stop, scratch, reverse, pitch shifting, and more.

The multi-segment editor lets you create up to 12 effect patterns, which can then be triggered by MIDI notes. The new version improves on the editor with multi-point selection and a revamped paint mode. There’s also a new sequencer that lets you build and randomize patterns.
Like GATE-12, TIME-12 also now includes a new option to trigger the envelope using audio transients, so the effect can react to the input signal. If you’re into modulated, rhythmic delay effects, this free plugin is clearly a must-have.
TIME-12 is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux in VST3, AU, and LV2 formats.
TBProAudio TBPAVolume: Precision Gain Control

TBPAVolume by TBProAudio gives you precise control over the volume of an audio signal independently from the volume fader of the mixer. This can be useful, for example, for gain staging between plugins, or for sample-accurate volume modulation and automation.
The plugin has independent controls for the left and right channels (with a link option), as well as a master fader. It supports left/right and mid/side processing. Additional features include adjustable min/max values, smooth parameter interpolation, and low aliasing.
TBPAVolume is available for macOS and Windows in VST, VST3, AU, AAX, and CLAP formats.
