Victory Amplifications The Deputy Lunchbox Head: 25 Watts, One Mighty Amp
The Deputy, but smaller!
Long name, huge sound! The Deputy Lunchbox Head from Victory Amplifications packs five tubes into a compact 25-watt head. Made in the UK, this mini all-tube amp is perfectly suited for clean 60s sounds or classic rock tones from the 70s.
The Deputy Lunchbox Head: Crunch For Lunch
Connoisseurs of British clean sounds might be well aware of the stir the original deputy caused a while back. The all-tube amp was an instant favorite by many when released in early 2024. Now, Victory Amps has shrunk it to a smaller form factor without sacrificing the legendary tones of the original.

Introducing The Deputy Lunchbox Head. This mini power amp measures just 34 cm x 18 cm x 18 cm (W x D x H), but weighs in at an impressive 7.2 kg. But that’s not really surprising with a 25-watt all-tube amp. In terms of sound, manufacturer Victory Amplifications has positioned this head in the realm of clean sounds from the sixties and rich, full-tube crunch from classic rock of the seventies.
Five Tubes and Three Voicings
The Deputy Lunchbox Head is purist in design. Three 12AX7 tubes in the preamp, two EL86 tubes in the power amp, one channel – an amp without any frills. And if you prefer EL84 tubes in the power amp, you can easily swap the EL86s for these. Otherwise, the amp is minimalist.
You get a single channel with three voicings that can be changed with the three-way switch called “Voice”. Here, you can select three different tones in the amplifier depending on your preference. Position 1 is best suited for clean sounds, with relatively little amplification. In the middle position 2, the preamp adds 6 dB to the signal, giving you a little crunch. Position 3 adds a mid and treble boost for even more punch.
In addition to Gain and Master volume, the Deputy Lunchbox Head features a three-band EQ (bass, mid, and treble) and a reverb effect that can be activated via an optional footswitch. The bright switch allows you to boost the upper mids if things get a little too muffled.
Connecticity
Despite its minimalist approach, the amp doesn’t skimp on connections. The signal input is located on the front, with the remaining connections on the rear. Here, you get a serial FX loop for adding further effects.

To ensure that the signal passes through the full tube with as little interference as possible, it is completely bypassed when no pedal is connected. Furthermore, the amp offers three speaker outputs (6.3 mm jack), one 16-ohm output and two parallel 8-ohm outputs.
