Grohl Rocks Coachella
Dave Grohl delivered a stunning surprise performance at Coachella’s second weekend, joining the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and maestro Gustavo Dudamel on the Outdoor Theatre stage.
Everlong
Armed with his iconic blue guitar, the Foo Fighters frontman presented symphonic interpretations of two fan favorites: the soaring “The Sky Is a Neighborhood” and the anthemic ’90s hit “Everlong.”

Are the Foos Back?
Grohl’s unexpected appearance marked his first public performance of Foo Fighters material since he had faced personal challenges.
Following reports last October that the band was entering an “indefinite hiatus” and the cancellation of their Soundside Music Festival headline slot, Grohl later shared news of fathering a child outside of his marriage, expressing his commitment to his family.
Grohl’s return to the stage follows recent high-profile appearances at FireAid LA and SNL50: The Homecoming Concert, signaling a gradual return to the spotlight for the beloved musician. Fans captured the unique Coachella performance on film and quickly circulated this collaboration online.
Now, everyone is asking, “Will the Foos be back soon?”
NAMM CEO Urges Trump Administration
John Mlynczak, CEO of the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), has issued a strong statement calling for the Trump administration to exempt musical instruments and accessories from ongoing tariffs, highlighting the severe impact of the president’s trade policies on the industry.
Tariffs
Mlynczak’s plea comes amidst escalating trade tensions, particularly with China, where significant tariffs have created volatility in the global economy. He warns that these tariffs threaten the economic and cultural contributions of US-made musical instruments and undermine the industry’s international competitiveness.
“We continue to urge the administration to exempt musical instruments and accessories, along with materials used to manufacture musical products, from the tariffs announced in president Trump’s executive orders,” Mlynczak stated. He emphasised the potential for US music product companies to lose their edge in producing high-quality instruments, particularly at professional and entry levels.
While acknowledging the recent 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs as a positive step, Mlynczak stressed the ongoing uncertainty. “The continued unpredictability of these tariff actions makes it difficult for companies to react in a meaningful way,” he said, highlighting the “serious business implications and consumer turmoil” caused by the fluctuating tariffs.
NAMM has also advocated for US-based acoustic stringed instrument manufacturers, urging the Secretary of Commerce to avoid additional tariffs on imported tonewoods, which are essential materials often unavailable domestically.
Trump Guitars
The situation has been further complicated by the reported manufacturing of Trump Guitars in China, a nation heavily targeted by the president’s tariffs. The broader music industry, beyond instrument manufacturing, faces significant challenges due to these trade policies.
We will update you with any further announcements regarding US tariffs and additional statements from Mlynczak and the Trump administration.
