The Walrus Audio Silt Harmonic Fuzz is a collaboration with tube specialist Jim Hagerman of Hagerman Amplification. It features a 12AU7 at the heart of its circuit for warm fuzzy tones.

Silt Harmonic Fuzz

Walrus Audio’s Silt Harmonic Fuzz is based around a 12AU7 tube and was designed in conjunction with Jim Hagerman. It should offer musicians a warm fuzz with plenty of traditional grit and growl. Hagerman runs Hagerman Amplification and so his insight will help make this pedal something special, no doubt.

Harmonic Mode

The fuzz features a Harmonic Mode that acts like a frequency doubler before the drive section and offers octave-like fuzz tones. Roll back your guitar’s tone knob and it will affect this quite nicely as well.

The pedal also comes equipped with a Contour control, allowing the player to fine-tune their fuzz tones with added precision. It also allows the switching between highpass, flat, and lowpass curves in the pre-tube EQ stage.

Voltages

Silt offers variable voltage and operates between 9v and 12v, with the higher voltage providing an extra gain boost which is a nice touch. This adds a little flexibility to the fuzz, and it is something I think users will enjoy experimenting with.

Overall the fuzz controls consist of Volume, Tone, Gain, and Contour, along with switches for Bypass and Harmonic Mode. With the pedal circuit itself being a true bypassdesign.

Two Finishes

Silt Harmonic Fuzz is available in two designs: a textured red enclosure with cream and black ink, featuring artwork by Adam Forster.  Or as a more stealthy, sleek, flat black design.

This new tube-based fuzz can be ordered now from Thomann in red * or black * finishes. I kind of like the red one myself, though I bet they sound great whichever colour you opt for.
