It’s always nice to see a manufacturer giving players something cool to mark their milestones. Just like with this new multi-effects pedal. Valeton already have a strong line up of multi-effects stomp-boxes, so it could be hard to see where the extra cash is going.

Visually, this new product has been given quite the makeover. Complete with a new colour scheme and firmware updates. Personally, I like the blue on red, it’s distinctive with an almost futuristic 80s vibe. Let’s take a look at what else it brings to the table.

New Features on the GP-200X

Headline stats are pretty impressive here, giving players a whole host of welcome appointments. Day to day usability will be admirable thanks to a more responsive footswitch and a tuner with better accuracy.

Just like any other multi-effects unit, we’ve got over 240 high-quality digital effects, in addition to 256 individual patch slots. These will be handy considering that there are over 100 adjustments to be made to different types of reverbs, delays and distortions to name a few.

The 4.3-inch LCD screen is bright and welcomes a custom start-up screen to commemorate the 10th anniversary occasion. Moreover, we’ve got a 180-second looper with over 100 different drum patterns for home jamming.

Artist Collaborations

To really make sure that the tones and effects are what actual players want to hear and use, Valeton have teamed up with a plethora of artists to create the custom firmware and presets.

Some artists include Tata Early and Pair Of Pandas. As well as their help, we’ve got use of 140 various electric, acoustic and bass cabinets.

Hardware

Not just for bedroom jamming, the Valeton GP-200X is built so you can actually use it on stage or in the studio. With 24-bit high performance audio, you won’t sound out of place.

We’ve also got the typical balanced jack inputs with an aux in and headphone out ports. What is cool are the left and right XLR jacks, allowing even more connectivity from the unit.

For recording, we’ve got a USB-C port and MIDI inputs and outputs. Plus, we’re powered via the typical DC 9V power supply which doesn’t look to be included.

Pricing and Availability

This Valeton GP-200X looks to be a cool piece of kit. Being a 10th anniversary model, it comes with a custom handmade guitar pick, leather carrying case and a keychain. Some nice memrobilia there that we’ll all probably lose or never use.

In all seriousness, it costs $343 / €369 / £315. Honestly, that’s not too bad considering that the other Valeton pedals command similar prices. Get it at Thomann*.

I kept reading the article trying to figure out if it’s the 10 year anniversary for the GP-200 (I mean, the Line 6 Helix is 9 years old) or for the company and finally gave up.
