Top 10 Best-Selling Synths of 2025
Which were the best-selling synths of this year? We got an exclusive look at Thomann’s sales figures in 2025. Get ready for some surprises!
We asked our retail partner Thomann which synths flew off the shelves this year, sorted by number of units sold. Not surprisingly, the list of best-selling synths is dominated by budget instruments. Nevertheless, some of this year’s best-sellers came as real surprises to me!
Best-Selling Synths of 2025
#1: Stylophone S-1 Analog

The #1 best-selling synth of 2025 is also the cheapest: at just $33 / £30 / €34 at Thomann*, the Stylophone S-1 is a steal (and—hint!—a fantastic last-minute Christmas gift!). The modern remake of the legendary stylus synth from the ‘70s sports the authentic vintage look. With three sounds, vibrato, and of course the namesake stylus, this analog mini synth is just as much fun today as it was 50 years ago!
#2: Moog Spectravox
In second place comes the first big surprise: would you have expected a Moog to outsell all the budget brands? Me neither. I reckon this is mainly due to the incredible deal Thomann offered on the Moog Spectravox during Cyberweek, when the semi-modular synth, spectral processor, and vocoder was available for less than half the regular price. It’s no surprise that fans jumped at this offer. The price has since returned back to normal at Thomann*, but keep your eyes peeled for the next deal!
#3: Behringer Edge
While they failed to claim the top spot, several Behringer synths made the list of best-selling synths in 2025. First up at #3 is the Edge. Sporting an eye-catching pink panel, the semi-modular, analog percussion synth is a knock-off of the Moog DFAM. Ahead of all other Behringer synthesizers, it was the manufacturer’s best-selling synth at Thomann* in 2025.
#4: Behringer Pro-VS Mini
I’m a bit surprised that the Pro-VS Mini is the only one of the Behringer Mini bunch to make the top 20 best-selling synths at Thomann*, considering that the JT Mini, CZ-1 Mini, and UB-Xa Mini all came out this year. The tiny hybrid synth pairs Prophet-VS-style vector oscillators with an analog filter. That must be a popular combination: the Pro-VS Mini comes in at #4.
#5: Behringer Pro-800
Eight analog voices for less than $250 – no wonder the Behringer Pro-800 ranks high on the list of best-selling synths. This analog replica of the Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 ditches the keyboard but ups the voice count to eight instead of six. As one of the most affordable analog polysynths of all time, it’s no surprise that the Pro-800 is very popular at Thomann*.
#6: Stylophone Theremin

The theremin is a bit of a phenomenon: hardly anyone can actually play it like it was intended to be played, apart from virtuosos such as Carolina Eyck. And yet, the mysterious antenna instrument has always captured the imagination of synth enthusiasts. As a teen way back in the ‘90s, I unsuccessfully attempted to build one myself, the remains of which still lie dormant in my attic to this day – I promise I’ll finish it someday! An easier and more rewarding way to get your hands on (or off!) a playable theremin is the Stylophone Theremin. With only one antenna, some would argue that it’s only half the Theremin experience. That said, it’s much easier to play, and it’s only $125 / £115 / €129 at Thomann*, which must be the reason why it was one of the best-selling synths of 2025.
#7: Teenage Engineering PO-12 Rhythm
Even a good 10 years after the release of the Pocket Operator series, the Teenage Engineering PO-12 Rhythm still ranks high in the sales charts at Thomann*, presumably because the price of the tiny drum machine dropped to just $48 / £44 / €49 this year. And you get a lot for your money: 16 sounds, a sequencer with parameter locks, and 16 punch-in effects. It may not quite be the smallest drum machine in the world, but it’s certainly one of the coolest.
#8: Behringer Grind

Unlike the Edge at #3, the Behringer Grind isn’t a replica of a semi-modular Moog synth. Instead, it pairs the digital multi-engine oscillator from the Brains module (which is based on Mutable Instruments Plaits) with an analog filter and a sequencer. The versatile little synth has clearly won people over; the Grind ranks eighth among the best-selling synths at Thomann* this year.
#9: Roland S-1 Tweak Synth
I wasn’t aware that the Roland S-1 is the most successful member of the AIRA Compact series. The pocket-sized synth is inspired by the legendary SH-101, but offers four voices of polyphony and some interesting new possibilities, such as an oscillator draw mode. In addition to a step sequencer with motion recording, it even has a built-in gyroscope. Enough to earn it 9th place on the list of best-selling synths at Thomann* in 2025.
#10: Instruo Pocket Scion
Number 10 came as a real surprise to me. When Instruo unveiled the Pocket Scion in the summer, I wasn’t sure what to think of it. Created in collaboration with the artist Modern Biology, the pocket-sized instrument connects to plants or other organisms via sensor clips, turning bioelectric currents into music. This clearly struck a chord: completely unexpectedly for me, Pocket Scion is one of the best-selling synths of 2025 at Thomann*.
