The 10 Spookiest Ukulele Songs for Halloween

Halloween is a special time of year for lots of people around the world. And with changing season come darker, misty evenings – the perfect atmosphere for creating spooky riffs! For many musicians, the challenge of making the humble, chirpy ukulele sound creepy and unnerving is a lot of fun. So here are my favourite spooky ukulele riffs to help inspire your All Hallows’ Eve celebrations.

And, in case you don’t yet own a ukulele, or need another uke in your life, we’ve selected some skull-themed ukuleles from Harley Benton that tie in well with the season.

Spooky Ukes!

One great thing about the ukulele is that it’s easy to learn, making it a great choice for beginners. And, it is perfect for these types of spooky tones, with its quick, plucked attack and minimal sustain. Those characteristics lend themselves nicely to unearthly tones you can augment with a little reverb and some imagination.

It can also cover darker, more chilling moods. So here are my favourite spooky ukulele songs, riffs, and compositions.

I’m quite partial to this Bela Lugosi’s Dead cover, as I’m a huge Bauhaus fan! I’ve added nine more spooky uke classics for you to check out below. Let me know your favourite spooky ukulele tunes in the comments section!
