914ce Legacy Collection

The Taylor Legacy 914ce is a Grand Auditorium model with a Venetian Cutaway that features the timeless combination of Indian rosewood and Engelmann spruce. For years, this tonewood pairing was the hallmark of the 900 Series, and according to Taylor, it is known for its rich, warm low end, sparkling highs, and beautifully blooming overtones.

It comes with a two-piece back and has a West African Crelicam ebony bridge.

X-Bracing

This model features traditional X-bracing, combined with modern performance-enhancing refinements, including a modern neck profile. The 25.5″ scale-length neck is made using Neo-Tropical mahogany and comes with a West African Crelicam ebony fretboard with Indian rosewood fretboard binding.

It has a satin finish for the back of the neck, and the rest of the body is a gloss finish throughout.

Cindy Inlays & Detailing

It also features the Cindy inlays (named after Bob Taylor’s wife) made of ebony, abalone, and pearl. Whereas the sound hole has a green abalone single ring, which means the neck detailing is the most prominent feature on this guitar visually.

The headstock again uses West African Crelicam ebony for the veneer and is bound with the same Indian rosewood as the fretboard, and is fitted with a set of Taylor gold tuners with matching buttons. Taylor has opted for a white TUSQ nut and a white Micarta saddle for this model, which I guess is more consistent than bone.

LR Baggs

These models come fitted as standard with the LR Baggs Element VTC undersaddle pickup system. This popular system uses a discrete Class A preamp and has a proprietary analog compressor that operates below 400Hz. It is often the choice for many acoustic players, as it does a nice job of capturing a guitar’s natural tone.
