In this week’s edition of Synth Deals, we’ve got a selection of instruments ranging from compact hybrid synths and drum machines all the way up to polyphonic analogue classics.
No matter what your budget may be or which style of music you’re making, we’ve picked out deals that appeal to beginners and experienced synth heads alike. Let’s take a closer look at the offers on the table:
There is a range of Artura synth deals currently available:
The Microfreak is a 4-voice paraphonic compact synth with 12 different synthesis modes. The modulation capabilities are impressive for such a small instrument, and the intuitive sequencer provides instant creative inspiration.
The Minifreak is a unique 6-voice performance-orientated synthesizer with an ADSR envelope, multi-segment envelope/ LFO, two LFOs, and an analogue multimode filter per voice, as well as a 64-step pattern sequencer, and an extensive mod matrix.
OXI Instruments Coral
The Coral is a versatile 14 HP 8-voice, 8-part multitimbral digital synth module with 10 synthesis modes, including Virtual Analogue, Waveshaping, FM, Wavetable, Multi-Oscillator, String, HiHat Synth, Snare Synth, Kick Synth, and Wav Player.
With each mode, there are 3 controllable parameters, and each voice has its own noise generator, filter, VCA, and 2 envelopes, as well as pan controls and a chorus effect. There are even global effects like a limiter and reverb, which add even more overall value.
If you like the TR-style of sequencing, the Roland TR-8S gives you a versatile creative platform to build your own drum patterns and grooves. In addition, you can combine the classic TR sounds with your own samples to create unique sound sets.
The interface is intuitive, especially from a performance perspective, and with effects like delay, reverb, overdrive, and filters you can alter your sounds live and send them out of the individual outputs for additional processing.
Waldorf M 16
Waldorf recently expanded the capabilities of the M with an additional 8-voice card. With each of the wavetable oscillators, you can choose to model the classic Microwave I or the more modern Microwave II, and there are 96 wavetables to work with.
Synthesis controls are extensive, with eight-segment envelopes, analogue VCAs, and an analogue LP filter. The M can also load sysex patches from the Microwave and there are multiple outputs with which to set up individual routings.
Sequential Prophet 10
The Prophet 10 is Sequential’s flagship analogue polysynth, keeping the Prophet legacy alive in fine style. 10-voice polyphony with 2 oscillators per voice and 61-key Fatar keyboard with aftertouch make this a very expressive instrument.
In addition, the patch memory is extensive, and you can emulate the various revisions of the Prophet-5 with the vintage control. Connectivity options include USB, MIDI, expression pedal, and CV I/O, which are useful for linking with other instruments.
