The new Gretsch Malcolm Young G6131-MY  Signature Jet model has been announced. This is a production version of the custom shop model released previously, a fitting tribute to the mastermind behind of the sound of AC/DC.

Malcolm Young G6131-MY  Signature Jet

Malcolm Young was the man behind one of the greatest rock bands to ever tour the planet. His weapon of choice was a heavily molested Gretsch Jet, so it is great to see Gretsch honouring him with this production signature model guitar at last. Malcolm was a living legend and gave so much to the world of music in his lifetime.

The Beast

I love this reproduction of Malcolm’s guitar and I think many fans of AC/DC will agree that it is a great way to celebrate his life as a musician. Gretsch has tried to mimic all his ‘modifications’ with this guitar and it looks like a close facsimile of the original guitar he named ‘The Beast’.

High-Gain

Powered by a single high-gain TV Jones Power’Tron pickup, the guitar has that stripped back rock’n’roll look that we all know and love. There are holes and plugged holes all over this guitar, just like the heavily toured original – exactly how any AC/DC fan would want it!

The guitar is a double-cutaway mahogany body with a maple top. I think given the pickup choice it should sing at high volume. As to whether or not anyone else can ever make it sound exactly like Mr Young… I doubt it, but you know it will put a huge smile on your face when you hit those first few chords with a cranked amp!

RRP – GBP 2749 available from October
