The Capitol Mastering Compressor from Universal Audio brings the unique sonic aesthetic of an exclusive studio compressor to a purely digital environment. The emulation is based on the handcrafted CM5511, which has been used for decades in the mastering rooms of Capitol Studios in Los Angeles for countless releases. Notably, this hardware was not available for purchase, but was built exclusively for internal use to ensure the highest consistency and sound quality.
Universal Audio’s digital implementation of the Capitol Mastering Compressor is, of course, based on the sound shaping characteristics of its analog predecessor.
