Roland ZENOLOGY GX for iPad is Getting Closer
Roland first shared a preview of ZENOLOGY GX for iPad at NAMM 2026 (see below). The mobile version of the software synth uses the same powerful ZEN-Core engine that powers Roland’s flagship hardware synths, such as the FANTOM series and the Jupiter-X.
According to Roland, ZENOLOGY GX for iPad will be released soon. And here’s the best part: At launch, the app will be available completely free of charge, with unrestricted editing capabilities and over 4,000 sounds. AUv3 support is also scheduled to arrive during the ‘Free Experience’ period. Before this introductory period ends, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase a lifetime key. You can register with your email address on Roland’s website to be notified at launch.
Without a lifetime key or Roland Cloud membership, the free version will revert to an entry-level standalone version with limited editing capabilities and fewer sounds after the introductory period ends. At this point, you’ll need either a lifetime key or a Roland Cloud Pro or Ultimate membership to unlock the full feature set and the complete sound library with over 12,000 sounds, including wave expansions.

Roland ZENOLOGY GX for iPad: ZEN-Core to Go!
[21 January 2026] Roland ZENOLOGY GX for iPad brings the powerful ZEN Core synthesis engine to the mobile platform. The standalone instrument for iPadOS will be released soon – and it’ll be free for a limited time!
Roland is offering a sneak preview of ZENOLOGY GX for iPad at NAMM 2026. The macOS and Windows versions of the software instrument packed with thousands of Roland sounds came out a couple of months ago. Soon, you’ll also be able to use it on the go, as well.
Like the desktop version, ZENOLOGY GX for iPad is based on the ZEN-Core synthesis engine, which also powers flagship hardware instruments like the FANTOM series and the Jupiter-X.
According to Roland, the app offers a high-resolution user interface and includes the ‘core feature set’ of the desktop version. It comes with a handy patch browser and thousands of ZEN-Core sounds. In addition, Roland says that the app offers ‘integrated creative tools’, although they don’t say much about the details yet.
Judging by the screenshot, the iPad app will give you access to the individual ZEN-Core partials (up to four per sound), including their oscillators, filters, envelopes, and LFOs. So you’ll have a wide array of sound design tools at your disposal. Effects are also included, as is a sequencer.
Price and Availability
According to Roland, ZENOLOGY GX for iPad is scheduled for release in ‘early 2026’, so it shouldn’t be much longer. During the introductory period, the software synth will be available as a free download. After that, you’ll be able to access it through a Roland Cloud subscription or by purchasing a Lifetime Key.
