Free Plugins of the Week
Tiagolr REEV-R: Modulated Convolution Reverb
After GATE-12, TIME-12, and FILT-R, developer Tiagolr presents the fourth in a series of excellent free plugins. REEV-R is a convolution reverb that uses the same versatile modulation engine as the sister plugins. This means that you can go absolutely berserk with modulation and use the reverb as a creative sound design tool.

REEV-R only comes with a single impulse response, but you can load any reverb IR you can find on the internet. Then, shape the IR using the Stretch, Trim, Reverse, Attack, and Decay functions. The plugin also lets you draw modulation curves using the very capable curve editor, including the ability to trigger up to 12 different curves/patterns using MIDI notes. Thanks to built-in envelope followers, the Send and Reverb parameters can react to your input signal.
A very powerful creative reverb that’s as much a performance effect as it is a sound shaping tool! I hope Tiagolr keeps this excellent series going.
REEV-R is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux in VST3, AU, and LV2 formats.
Tritik Visu: Free Spectrogram Plugin

A spectrogram can be a valuable tool for analyzing your mixes and pinpointing problematic frequencies. Visu by Tritik is a free spectrogram plugin that visualizes the frequency content of your audio material over time, with amplitude represented by color. This makes it easy to spot unwanted noise, detect transients, and get a general overview of the frequency content over time.
In addition to a classic spectrogram mode, there’s an enhanced mode with greater precision. According to Tritik, this mode uses time-frequency reassignment to display transients and pitches in greater detail.
The license-free version of Visu is fully functional in black and white. There’s also a licensed version on a “pay-what-feels-right” basis that offers full color.
Visu runs on macOS and Windows in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX formats.
XRL Records MH Lifter: Free Mid and High Frequency Enhancer

MH Lifter by XRL Records is a free mid- and high-frequency enhancer plugin designed to add clarity, presence, and definition to your mix. According to the developer, it works great on a wide range of instruments and voices.
The plugin only has two controls: a Mid knob for adding punch without making the sound muddy, and a High knob for added air and sparkle. A quick and easy way to breathe life into your mix!
MH Lifter is currently only available for Windows in VST and VST3 formats, although the developer says that an AU version for Mac is in the works.
