Native Instruments’ annual X-mas gift has become a tradition. This year, the company surprises us with YANGQIN, a traditional Chinese instrument. Celebrate the holidays with the far-eastern sounds of this free Kontakt library! And they’re throwing in a $25 voucher towards any library, instrument or effect from their extensive catalog.
Native Instruments YANGQIN
Every year, Native Instruments releases a surprise freebie for X-mas. Last year brought us the delightful reverb plug-in Raum, which I use quite frequently. For 2020, NI takes us to China with YANGQIN, a sampled, traditional Chinese instrument.
A Yangqin is a hammered dulcimer, whose steel strings are stuck with bamboo beaters. You’ll instantly recognize the sound from far-eastern-themed movie soundtracks. The Kontakt 6 library lets you adjust sound parameters like dynamics, body and decay. There’s also a MIDI-controllable tremolo feature, and a selection of pre-recorded phrases that sync to your host tempo.
For a limited time, you can download YANGQIN for free from Native Instrument’s website. You’ll need to create a NI account (if you don’t already have one) and download the free Kontakt 6 player (if you don’t have the full version of Kontakt 6).
But that’s not the only gift from Native Instruments. On the website, you’ll also find a holiday voucher that gets you $25 off any library, instrument or effect from the company’s extensive catalog. All you need to do is enter the code HOLIDAYGIFT2020 at checkout.
