NAMM 2021: The Blackstar Studio 10 6L6 – now in Surf Green
New '60s style finish
Blackstar is now offering its Studio 10 6L6 combo in a new Surf Green finish. This very vintage-flavoured look is a nod to the sounds and styles of the ’60s surf scene in America.
Blackstar Studio 10 6L6 Surf Green
The Blackstar Studio 10 6L6 Surf Green model is targeted for studio and home use, with a friendly 10 Watts output that is provided by a single 6L6 power tube. In the preamp section you’ll find an ECC83 tube which can also be split and used for the series effects loop. Because it is a single-ended Class A circuit, it should be able to provide some nice and musical sounding power amp clipping. Perfect for adding a little warmth to your effects. A single Celestion Seventy-80 12″ speaker handles the gain and complexity of tones the amp has to offer.

Surf Green
The amp is covered in Surf Green Tolex with a nice basketweave front cloth, a tan handle and some neat white piping to accent the Surf Green. Overall, this is a very smart looking little combo and would look good either at home or in the studio. It’s possible we might see the whole range aesthetically revamped at some point, so keep an eye out throughout 2021 for new colour ways for the Studio 10 series.
Control Panel
The control layout panel is nice and simple. The vintage-style cream chicken head knobs adjust Gain, Tone, Reverb and Master Volume. There is also a push-button to engage the overdrive, for additional gain boost. The amp ships with a one-button footswitch for the boost.
