NAMM 2020 is already well underway, even though it hasn’t officially started yet. D’Angelico has taken this opportunity to show off the new Premier and Excel Series semi-hollow Mini DC models. Compact guitars with bags of style.

The new D’Angelico Mini DC model is only 14″ wide, which compared to the well known DC at 16″ wide, makes it relatively compact for a semi-hollow bodied guitar. With its undersized body and a slim C-shape neck profile, it looks like it might be also be quite comfortable to play.

Premier

The Premier Mini DC version is equipped with Seymour Duncan-designed humbucking pickups and chrome hardware. It will be available in Ocean Turquoise, Champagne and Fiesta Red finishes.

You can hear the new Premier Mini DC model in action in the official demo video below. The price is really good and, at under grand, well worth a look if you are after a semi-hollow double-cut design guitar.

RRP – USD 799

Excel

Then there is the Excel Mini DC and this one comes loaded with a pair of USA Seymour Duncan 59s with coil-splitting push/pull tone knobs, for extra tones when you need them.

This fancier version comes with gold hardware, Grover Imperial tuners and an ebony fingerboard with split-block mother-of-pearl and abalone inlays. The Excel Mini DC will be available in Vintage Natural, Trans Cherry and Black finishes.

It will cost you an extra grand for this Excel version, so you may want to check out both models to see which you prefer. I’m sure it is worth the extra, but if you are on a budget you may be better off with the cheaper Premier Mini DC model above.

Again, I would suggest you check out the official demo video below to get an idea of what it sounds like. I like the smaller designs a lot and so I think it is great to have two versions at different price points available on launch.

RRP – USD 1799
