Housed in a smaller box, the new PreSonus Studio 192 Mobile USB 3.0 22 x 26 audio interface and studio command center is quite a mouthful but delivers the same tight software integration, low latency monitoring and studio control functionality of the full-fat Studio 192. On the hardware side it combines 2 XMAX Class A solid state mic preamps and Burr-Brown convertors with 118dB of dynamic range. Having only 4 analogue inputs the rest of the “22” is to be found in optical ADAT and coaxial S/PDIF.

The Command Center element focuses on monitor mixing, speaker switching, software controlled Dim and Mono controls and two independent headphone outputs, although that sounds a lot less impressive when written down as most audio interfaces tend to offer similar functionality through their monitoring software. As with the UR interfaces and Cubase from Steinberg, the Studio 192 can fully integrate with Studio One giving you pre-amp controls, monitoring and mix functions right within the recording environment. The Studio One Fat Channel plug-ins can then run the Studio 192’s internal DSP for recording and monitoring, switching back to native on playback. All these functions are also controllable from the UC Surface iPad control software.

The Studio 192 Mobile is expected to be available in March for an estimated price of 599 USD.
