These two free plugins by Luxora Audio not only sport some of the most polished GUIs we’ve seen in a while, they also sound great and very musical. Both are based on emulations of classic tubes and designed for a quick and efficient workflow.

Based on the tone of 12AX7 tubes from the ‘70s to the ‘90s, Lux Vocal Preamp adds analog warmth with a unique harmonic character to your vocal recordings. In addition to input and output controls (which also control the amount of saturation), the plugin offers a one-knob EQ designed for natural vocal shaping.

Lux Sub-Bass, on the other hand, is perfect for low-frequency sources such as bass, 808s, and even drum buses. Built around an emulation of the classic 12AU7 tube, Lux Sub-Bass delivers low-end saturation while leaving the higher frequencies intact. Compared to Lux Vocal Preamp, Lux Sub-Bass has more controls, allowing you to dial in the perfect balance of sub bass, bass, and high frequencies, as well as the total amount of saturation.

Lux Vocal Preamp and Lux Sub-Bass by Luxora Audio are available for macOS and Windows in VST3 and AU formats.

In a nutshell, HY-MBMFX3 is a multi-band multi-effect plugin with a modular environment. You can split the signal up into three frequency bands, set up custom processing chains using a variety of FX processors, and modulate everything to your heart’s content.

While the free version obviously doesn’t offer all the bells and whistles of the full version, you still get seven FX processors, three types of modulators, and eight macros, making this one of the most versatile free multi-effect plugins available today.

HY-MBMFX3 Free is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux in VST, VST3, and AU formats.

More Information

Now here’s something you don’t see every day. Liquidize by Bespoke Samples is a free plugin designed to add a watery, “liquid” character to your sounds and samples. It does this using a combination of a self-modulating vocoder, a reverb, and a phaser.

You can set the number of vocoder bands and their bandwidth, and control the response of the vocoder using the Attack, Release, and Threshold knobs. Then add some phasing to your liking, dial in the desired room size, and sprinkle a few drops of reverb over the top. Perfect for ambient soundscapes and experimental sound design!

Liquidize is available for macOS and Windows in VST and AU formats.
