Lounge Lizard Expressive Suite by Expressive E

It’s a busy week for Expressive E, what with the launch of the new 61-key version of their spectacular Osmose E synth just a couple of hours ago. And they cleverly snuck out their latest Expressive Suite a few days before which truly fits the bigger keyboard range of their new keyboard.

You may recall that Expressive E have been partnering with a number of plugin manufacturers, developing MPE-focused presets that really show off the respective synth’s MPE capabilities, whether you’re using an Osmose or another MPE keyboard or controller.

More Information

Following on from their partnership with Synape Audio and their Legend HZ synth, Expressive E have taken Applied Acoustic Systems Lounge Lizard and created 100 MPE presets for it. Lounge Lizard is a physically modelled rendition of two electric pianos, one tine-based, the other reed.

You may think that the very nature of an electric piano may not particularly lend itself to MPE, given that the originals had fairly limited expression capabilities. But when you listen to the demos, you soon discover that being able to assign various modes of expression to a physically modelled EP delivers sounds you could only once dream of.

It takes an unmistakable tone and makes it burst forth from the limitations of the original hardware, and will have you looking at electric pianos in a whole new light. And now, with the Osmose 61, you have the ability to play across the whole range of notes that you could with an electric piano.

As always, you can buy a bundle that gives you the Lounge Lizard plugin and the Electric Expressions MPE sound bank for a discounted price, or if you already own Lounge Lizard, you can buy the patch library on its own. Introductory offers are available until November 19th, 2025.

Noise Canvas for Arturia Pigments 6 by Anton Anru

Arturia Pigments 6 is just one of the best software synths available today, if not of all time. It is such an expansive, versatile and inspiring instrument that any musician should have this installed on their computer no matter what.

You are currently viewing a placeholder content from YouTube. To access the actual content, click the button below. Please note that doing so will share data with third-party providers.

More Information

There is little that it can’t do, with its large array of oscillator types, modulation possibilities and intuitive modulation system. I’d love to see a standalone hardware version of Pigments, and you can get somewhere close to that by investing in Arturia’s amazing Astrolab in both the 61 and 88 key varieties.

Here, we have Anton Anru’s latest soundset for Pigments that is squarely focused on the ambient and IDM scenes. Called Noise Canvas, it is surprisingly musical and presents us with 50 lofi, gritty and very rhythmical patches.
