Long-Awaited Yamaha Chris Buck Signature Revstar
With P90 pickups, chambered body, and TonePros wraparound bridge

Yamaha has officially announced the release of the RS02CB, a signature Revstar developed in meticulous collaboration with acclaimed guitarist Chris Buck. Based on his Custom Shop model that has served as Buck’s primary guitar since 2020.
Yamaha Chris Buck
The new RS02CB Chris Buck Signature Revstar now brings that specific tonal DNA to the public, featuring a chambered body, carbon-reinforced neck, and a sweet-looking Honey Gold finish.
Perfect for the Road
Mr Buck is a very popular guitarist and has made a reputation playing a Revstar worldwide, so it makes a lot of sense for Yamaha to release this signature model. Known for his soulful expression and fluid touch, the South Wales native has spent years touring the globe—from Cairo to California—with a one-of-a-kind Revstar.
Designed for Resonance and Response
The RS02CB is built around Yamaha’s exclusive Acoustic Design process. By strategically chambering the mahogany and maple body, their designers/engineers have increased resonance and reduced weight, resulting in an instrument that is both balanced and stage-ready.
Yamaha has also equipped the three-piece mahogany neck with carbon reinforcement rods for maximum stability. Perfect for a man who travels the world touring and playing gigs, like Chris.
P-90
At the center of the RS02CB’s identity is a set of custom-voiced P90-style pickups. I can see why Chris chose these as his preferred pickup. Unlike high-output modern pickups, these are tuned for a slightly lower output. Providing a wider dynamic range, allowing the guitar to remain clear at low volumes while delivering an open, organic growl when driven hard.
Wraparound Bridge
This signature model comes fitted with a TonePros AVT2 wraparound bridge, a direct carry-over from Buck’s original custom model. Simple and rock-solid, which is great for tone and stability when touring.
The Honey Gold finish is complemented with a set of amber hat knobs, and Buck’s signature is on the back of the headstock. asubtle nod to the fact that it is a signature guitar.
Verdict
The Yamaha RS02CB is expected to begin shipping very soon, and I think it offers fantastic value for money. I own a really nice Yamaha model myself (the SA503 Troy Van Leeuwen), and it’s a great guitar for working musicians. I’m expecting a high-quality build with this one, and the EU pricing is very appealing.
It’s great to see Chris get a signature model from Yamaha, as he works hard and so deserves a good one!
