Kuassa Rectifor: Grab a cheap Mesa Boogie-style amp for your DAW
New Rectifier-style amp plugin from Indonesia
The new Kuassa Rectifor gives you a Mesa Boogie Rectifier-style drive tone with three channels each for your DAW setup. It is also launching with a bargain introductory price, perfect for getting a high gain tone for not a lot of money.
The Kuassa Rectifor is the latest plugin amp simulation from the Indonesian software developer. Based on a Mesa Rectifier-type amp tone and with three distinct channels, it offers a lot of high gain tones. Plus, it is launching at a nice introductory deal price, perfect for musicians with constrained budgets.
If you are looking for heavy gain and lots of distorted guitar tones à la Tool, Incubus, Linkin Park or System of a Down, then Rectifor is the right plugin for you. They don’t officially reveal exactly which amps are behind the three types. But probably we can guess Single Rectifier, Dual Rectifier and Triple Rectifier. There is also a fairly clear clean sound in the video, which I would actually have attributed to the Mark series. But of course, the rectos can also do clean if required.
The three types and the three channels each are operated like a classic amp. With Gain, 3-band EQ, Presence, Master, Bias and Sag you have your basic amp controls. Then, two speaker cabinets with different freely positionable microphones can be mixed together to help you get the tone you are chasing.
Oversampling, noise gate and more
Outside the amp range, you can set a noise gate essential for high-gain sounds in the plug-in, as well as enable oversampling from 0x to 8x. It has plenty of presets to get you going, along with an A/B for switching between two voices quickly.
On the far left, you can also continuously adjust the input signal. Especially with guitars with very low or very high output, this sometimes makes sense. Filters, limiters and output volume can then be set at the bottom.
Plug-in formats & operating systems
Kuassa offers Rectifor for Windows 7 and later and macOS 10.9 and later, in 64-bit format in VST, VST3, AU, AAX or rack extension. The Apple M1 is also supported from launch.
Price and market launch
Actually, the Kuassa Rectifor costs 49 USD plus tax. With an introductory price of only 25 USD plus tax that runs until 8 August 2022. That is a pretty good deal and well worth checking out. Thankfully, you can download a free demo so you can try it before you commit to buying.
