The KRK V-Series Five is the new and improved flagship studio monitor line from KRK with a hefty list of upgrades compared to the previous version.
The KRK V-Series was first introduced back in 1997, replacing the passive models in the KRK studio monitor range. In the nearly 30 years of production, the V-Series has seen several leaps in technology while establishing itself as a popular choice in professional studios and post-production facilities, always maintaining its signature look with the yellow Kevlar woofers.

Like the previous version, the V-Series Five comes in three different sizes: a 4-inch (V4S5), a 6-inch (V6S5), and an 8-inch (V8S5) model. The 2-way front-ported design remains, but the Class D amplification system has been improved considerably, with the V4S5 offering 450W RMS (280W + 175W) of power divided across the low and high frequencies.
The tweeters have also been upgraded to a dampened silk dome design, reducing ear fatigue, improving linear phase, and drastically extending the frequency response (up to 40 kHz). This also results in lower distortion levels, as well as more precise stereo imaging and higher transient response accuracy for better overall translation across any playback system.
The V-Series Five is also equipped with a more advanced DSP engine and higher-grade conversion, adding features like a 7-band parametric EQ for surgical acoustic control and comprehensive wireless control via KRK’s MESH technology. This allows you to adjust the levels, mutes, and EQ of each speaker from the accompanying mobile app for fast configuration.
With the inclusion of AES3 connectivity, you can bypass an additional conversion stage and go directly into the V-Series Fives digitally, which, when combined with the app control, makes them ideal for immersive mixing setups. The only drawback of all this new tech is, of course, the significant price increase, which may make you consider the competitive options from Adam Audio, Focal, or Barefoot Sound.
