Korg microAUDIO 22 and 722: Audio Interfaces Inspired by Vintage Synth Design
Compact desktop interfaces inspired by classic KORG synths.

The new Korg microAUDIO 22 and 722 compact desktop audio interfaces have looks and feel inspired by the classic Korg synthesizer design.
Synth manufacturing giant, Korg, has always had a penchant for doing the unexpected around this time of year. This time, the company has branched out with two compact audio interfaces – and one of them has a built-in low-pass filter.

These synth sentimental interfaces were first teased at the NAMM show last year, but now they’ve become a reality. The smaller microAUDIO 22 is a 2×2 USB-C audio interface with 24-bit 192kHz recording, direct monitoring, and a Hi-Z input for guitars. What’s more, there is a range of DSP effects, including a noise gate and a compressor.
Meanwhile, the larger microAUDIO 722 has the same 2×2 USB-C capabilities, only with the addition of minijack MIDI I/O and an analogue filter section inspired by the miniKORG 700S. This provides a resonant low-pass or high-pass filter that can switch between the inputs and USB as a source signal. What’s more, you can choose between an LFO or an envelope in free or sync mode.
This allows you to filter sounds creatively while recording them into your DAW, or during DAW playback on a live stream. Meanwhile, the microAUDIO interfaces also come with an exclusive selection of software plugins, including the new Filter Ark plugin, which gives you a selection of 14 legendary Korg filters.
Although the implementation of an analogue filter might be a little leftfield, it’s been implemented in a very straightforward way. This allows a different group of users to enjoy the creative sound-shaping power of an analogue filter, who might not otherwise be exposed to it in such a simple and definitive way.
