KHDK pedals have teamed up with caffeine experts Dark Matter Coffee to produce the limited edition Unicorn Blood fuzz pedal.

Unicorn Blood

Chicago’s Dark Matter Coffee has an ‘Espresso Blend’ named Unicorn Blood which inspired this insane pedal. It combines a fuzz and an octave effect into one brightly coloured unit. The Fuzz channel on the left side has a single large purple knob surprisingly labelled Fuzz. The Octave channel on the right-hand side has an ‘Octatone’ knob. Three additional switches are labelled Fast, Boost and Sludge.

The Unicorn Blood pedal is limited to 100 units, making it a decidedly limited edition. KHDK has worked with Reverb to launch this pedal, so given the association with guitar legend Kirk Hammet it’ll probably sell out in minutes.

You really have to watch Brent Hinds official video below to savour the flavour of this one, as he puts it through its paces in his own caffeinated style. According to Mr Hinds, “It mixes fuzz with coffee and also with cream,” with the switches determining “how much cream or sugar you want.” Er, right.

There is a separate footswitch for each of the two effect channels, so it’ll be easy enough to use. Just make sure you have had enough coffee before you dive into playing with the Unicorn Blood – you’ll need that extra edge in your playing style to tame this unicorn-themed effect.
