Mackie and Podcasting?

You can’t help but have noticed that podcasting and live streaming have exploded over the last few months. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced creatives into new avenues to reach their audiences. Podcasting and streaming have undoubtedly boomed as a result. Obviously, manufacturers of gear have been quick to try and fill the market demand for podcasting and streaming gear.

It looks like Mackie is about to play its hand in the podcasting market, thanks to a teaser we’ve found online. The YouTube account of proaudio.tv has a holding page live, which promises a new product release on 5 October. The accompanying description says “Dimitri Metzeltin presenting new tools for recording and podcast”.

The big question, of course, is what is Mackie planning to drop on October 5th?

A Podtrak Rival?

The big players in the podcasting marketplace are undoubtedly Rode and Zoom; Rode’s RODECaster PRO and the newly released Zoom PodTrak P8. Mackie has a successful and celebrated background in making great performing, affordable, compact mixers.

So, can we expect Mackie to give us their version of the Podtrak? Their PRO-FX mixer series is already popular with podcasters. Will we see a re-jigged, hot-rodded version with streaming and podcasting in mind?

Whatever Mackie comes up with, check back in with us on October 5th. We’ll have the news and our insights as soon as the news goes live…
