The latest IK Multimedia ‘limited edition’ pedal is the new TONEX ONE Double Special. This small-footprint brown pedal comes with access to their Double Special Collection and the ODS Legends Collection.
Budget Boutique
Perfect for any guitarist who wants boutique amp tones but cannot afford the ridiculous price tag of rare hand-wired boutique amps. Alexander Dumble created a number of amp models and tuned them specifically for the player. His work is now legendary, and the prices have skyrocketed since he passed away in 2022.
AI Machine Modeling
These TONEX pedals let users experience the authentic sag and harmonic depth of elite D-style amps. Powered by IK’s AI Machine Modeling, IK states that these snapshots deliver those iconic, crystal-clear cleans with stunning accuracy.
As I don’t have access to an original Dumble amp (they all sound different anyway), and neither do most guitarists, we will just have to assume they sound like the original.
IRs & FX
They also feature the ability to load your favourite impulse responses for custom speaker cab emulations via the IR loader, allowing you to bypass the built-in VIR cabinets. Plus, teh latest update to TONEX ONE added FX, so you can apply delays and modulation, etc.
Users can also use them as a 24-bit/44.1kHz USB audio interface, and the TONEX SE software allows them to customise the unit and create their own amp models.
These are a limited run, but IK has stated they are making 1000 of this model. We have also seen Joe Satriani and Van Halen models, so this latest version adds to that collection.
It’s a potentially handy little pedal to own, as it is flexible, has many uses, and can be easily customised to taste.
