HEDD Type 20 A-CORE: A New 3-Way Analogue Studio Monitor
The new flagship of the A-CORE series.

The HEDD Type 20 A-CORE is the new 3-way flagship of the popular A-CORE studio monitor series with integrated analogue corrective EQ.
Berlin-based manufacturer, Heinz Electrodynamic Designs (HEDD) is led by Klaus Heinz, who you may know as one of the founders of the popular speaker brand, Adam Audio.
HEDD Type 20 A-CORE
The Type 20 A-Core uses a 3-way speaker design with 7-inch and 4-inch honeycomb woofers for the low-end and midrange, and Air Motion Transformer (AMT) drivers for the highs. The speaker array is tri-amplified (3 x 100W) with Class D amplification, and the Type 20 can be used in nearfield or midfield configurations.
Because there is no DSP in the design, the A-CORE series uses an analogue filter board in each speaker for neutral phase and accurate sonic performance. However, you can still make adjustments to compensate for any problem areas in your room, with the high and low shelving filters that let you boost or cut by 6 dB.
The Type 20 offers different connectivity options, including an XLR combo input for balanced signals and an RCA port for unbalanced signals from consumer audio devices. With crossover points at 250 Hz and 3.2 kHz, the frequency range (32 Hz – 40 kHz) is divided between the three drivers for the most natural sound possible.
Manufactured with a sturdy MDF cabinet, the Type 20 is mountable for use in immersive speaker configurations. Overall, the Type 20 rounds off the A-CORE series, and the analogue design philosophy provides a worthy alternative to the endless range of DSP-based studio monitors on the market.
