French manufacturer Glou-Glou FX has made a new pedal enticingly named The Pralines. It is an analogue effect pedal that offers four independently controllable filters and opens the doors to various modulation effect sounds. But its makers have combined the filter section with a fuzz effect to produce synth-like sounds.
The Lyon-based company Glou-Glou FX has been in the pedal building game for only about two years and so far has a very compact portfolio, made up of this effect and the “Rendez-Vous“. If you look at the specs of both devices it quickly becomes clear that this company is focused on special and sophisticated boutique modulation effects.
Filters, LFOs and Gated FUZZ!
The Pralines has four filters as a starting point, which can be independently controlled in their frequency and then varied, processed further and mixed. For example, the LFO and Envelope filter can produce different effects. The transistor Gated Fuzz gives the pedal a lot more sonic variety, suiting those who like to dabble.
This pedal could be a great starting point not only for guitarists but also for bassists, keyboard players and other instruments. In the hands of sound designers in the studio I could imagine this unit would be a lot of fun and inspire some fantastic soundscapes.
Plenty to play with there for sure! The unit itself is true bypass and will run from a standard 9-Volt external power supply. The Glou-Glou FX pedals can only be ordered from selected dealers or directly from the manufacturer’s website.
