Gibson has released two new USA Les Paul models with ergonomic upgrades and bright colour choices; The Les Paul Modern Lite and the Les Paul Modern Figured.
Les Paul Modern Lite
The Gibson Les Paul Modern Lite is its new, thinner all-mahogany body guitar and is also one of their more affordable ones. This model is fitted with a pair of open-coil 490R and 498T humbuckers.
SlimTaper
It comes with a mahogany neck, a rosewood fretboard with dot inlays, plus a fast-playing SlimTaper profile neck. This new slimmed-down Les Paul model is available in Gold Mist Satin, Cardinal Red Satin, Rose Gold Satin, Inverness Green Satin, or TV Wheat nitrocellulose satin finishes.
They come in a Gibson soft shell case as standard.

Modern Figured
Next up are these new Gibson Les Paul Modern Figured models, which are available in Cobalt Burst, Cherry Burst, and Seafoam Green finishes. Each one has a lightweight mahogany body paired with a AAA flame maple top. Along with an ebony fretboard that has a modern compound radius.
These models also feature the Modern Contoured Heel neck/body joint for better upper fret access.
Modern Switching
They come fitted with a pair of Gibson Burstbucker Pro and Burstbucker Pro + humbucking pickups that have some neat switching options. Four push-pull pots, allow users to switch between Gibson humbucker and single-coil P-90 tones, and they also offer phase switching and a pure bypass.

Verdict
It is good to see a splash of colour on the Les Paul and having two price points aimed at different budgets is also welcome. Overall, these are both going to give users a bit of that Gibson tone and that is always welcome.
They will not be for everyone, and traditionalists will probably dislike them. However, I can see them being used by a lot of players.
