The Fluid Image 1 is a powerful new professional 3-way studio monitor, designed to get great results even in untreated acoustic environments.
Joining the flexible Image series of active studio monitors and subwoofers, the Image 1 offers deep integration with SonarWorks SoundID Reference software and a unique dual opposed woofer system for precise low-end reproduction.
Fluid Image 1
The Image 1 uses a 475W Class-D quad amplification system with a crossover system that divides the frequency range at 190 Hz and 3 kHz. Going down to 42 Hz, the dual 6.5″ Vi-bracer™ woofers deliver a precise and well-articulated low-end, as each driver is powered by its own individual 150W amplifier.
For the midrange, a 4-inch driver uses an aluminium cone design, driven by a 100W amplifier, while the 1.1 x 1.7-inch AMT tweeter is powered by a 75W amplifier. With discrete AD/DA conversion stages in the DSP board, the Image 1 offers a signal-to-noise ratio of 115 dBa, and there is AES digital in and thru connectivity for daisy chaining two monitors together.
When combined with its mounting capabilities, digital flexibility, and easy calibration, the Image 1 is ideal for Dolby Atmos mixing, especially for height and surround channels. Also, with the accompanying DCT (DSP Calibration Tool) software, you can access the CubeMix mode, which assists with mix translation on small speakers and allows easy A/B comparison.
With SoundID Reference integration, you can import calibration files and store up to four profiles that can be loaded from the monitor’s controls. This also gives you presets based on your room or listening position, so you can design your own workflow. Overall, the Image 1 is an impressive studio monitor packed with pro features and a competitive price tag.
