Fender Japan Acoustasonic Telecaster

The three models of Fender American Acoustasonic Telecaster are in a limited run for Japan and are being made to celebrate the opening of the new flagship Fender store in Tokyo.

Though, each guitar was actually built in California. Making this Japanese Fender model a little different from the usual limited-run models made for the Japanese market.

They will be available directly from the Japanese store itself and once sold out they won’t be making anymore.

Hokusai Katsushika

As mentioned above, each one features ukiyo-e artwork from the “Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji” by Hokusai Katsushika. Possibly, the perfect choice of image to celebrate the new Fender Flagship Store in Tokyo, which opened earlier this month.

The three models are named on the site as Custom Mount Fuji Artwork, Cresting Wave Custom Artwork and Tama Custom Artwork.

Three Pickups

Each model features three pickup systems, which can be blended to create acoustic tones and more. They include the Fishman Under Saddle Transducer, Fishman Acoustasonic Enhancer and the Fender Acoustasonic Noiseless.

Specifications

Each guitar features a mahogany neck paired with an ebony fretboard. The contoured mahogany hollow body is equipped with the patented Stringed Instrument Resonance System (SIRS) technology.

I can see these potentially becoming pretty collectable in the future, as anything Fender and Japanese has a pretty wide audience.

MSRP – YEN 330,000

Outside of Japan, a regular American Acoustasonic will set you back around €1779 * currently, though it won’t have the fancy artwork.
