First Thoughts
Lunchbox amps make a lot of sense in 2026, so if you have a tube amp line, a smaller version will make much more practical sense for most guitarists. The Savage 30 follows this trend, but with features like a noise gate, power soak, and line out, it offers even more than most other lunchbox amplifiers.
The ENGL Powercube 200 is a Class-D power amp in a pedalboard-friendly size for those who already have their sound on their board and just need power for their cab or PA.
If you love high-gain amps, well, ENGL is up there with the best, and these German-designed and built models are well worth checking out.
Savage 30
This new Savage 30 makes a lot of sense, and it is no surprise that ENGL has also noticed the growing success of lunchbox amps. The Ravager already demonstrates their attention to this market. Now comes the Savage 30 with 30 watts, two channels (Clean and Lead) with separate gain controls. Bass, Middle, and Treble on the EQ, as well as Presence, are shared between both voicings.
The lead channel gets a separate volume control, plus a global master volume. The Engl Savage 30 is powered by four ECC83 tubes in the preamp and two EL84 tubes in the power amp.
Noise gate, power soak and connections
Anyone who plays high-gain amps knows about the often considerable noise level. The Savage 30 conveniently features a noise gate for the lead channel (threshold is set on the back panel). And for those who want to use the Engl Savage 30 at home, it has a built-in four-stage power soak.
It also includes a tube-buffered FX loop. The speaker outputs on the rear panel offer options for either 1 x 8-16 ohms or 2 x 16 ohms. The amp weighs 11 kg and is manufactured in Germany.

Powercube 200: Class-D power amp for the pedalboard
The signal is nicely routed through the chain, finally through a (pre)amp pedal, and then what? Then you still need a power amp. Preferably loud. Ideally, if you’re already using a pedal-sized preamp, it should be compact.
The Powercube 200 offers exactly that: a Class-D amplifier, up to 200 watts into at least 4 ohms. It also features a three-band EQ that you can deactivate if needed. And to warn you of distortion/clipping at the wrong point in the signal path, the Powercube 200 has two LEDs at the input and output stages.
Connections include a (mono) speaker output and a balanced DI output via XLR with ground lift.
