It might look like an ordinary travel guitar, but the Cort Earth Go offers much more. Besides its beautiful and compact design, it includes a “smart” preamp. There, you have access to a variety of built-in effects and a looper. It can even function as a bluetooth speaker!

Cort Earth Go: Travel Guitar with a Twist

Before we get into the “smart” part of the Cort Earth Go, let’s take a look at the guitar part. At 3/4 (22.7″) with 19 frets, it’s sized like a travel guitar in a dreadnought body form. The Earth Go comes with a solid Sitka spruce top, so this acoustic can take a beating or two while on the road.

Underneath, you get an advanced scalloped X-bracing with back, sides, and a set-in neck made of mahogany. In addition, both the fretboard and the bridge are made of laurel. Regarding the hardware, this model comes with sealed nickel tuners with black buttons. And then there is the HyVibe H2 preamp.

HyVibe H2 Preamp: Built-in Effects, Looper and Bluetooth Speaker

The highlight of the Cort Earth Go, besides its size, is the HyVibe H2 Preamp. At the first glance, it’s the usual acoustic guitar preamp, you can connect to a PA or speaker. But it includes a host of effects, one of which you can apply and directly hear from the built-in speaker.

From what I can tell from the video, these effects include reverb, delay, tremolo, phaser, booster, distortion, and an octaver. Something we’ve seen similarly from the futuristic guitars from Lava. You select and dial in one from the controls and the display on the preamp. The Earth Go also includes a looper, which makes it perfect for busking and spontaneous songwriting.

More Information

From the looks of it, you get for tracks you can overdub. The Cort Earth Go also includes a way to upload audio via USB-C that you can play as backing tracks. In addition, the preamp comes with Bluetooth capabilities. So, you can send audio from your phone – the world’s first guitar bluetooth speaker! To round it off, the preamp also includes a metronome so you can practice your licks at home. No word yet on battery time (re-charging happens through USB-C), looper storage or additional effects or setting through a firmware update.

How much does the Cort Earth Go cost?

This looks like a pretty innovative approach to a travel guitar. The included effects might not be the most advanced ones, but adding a little reverb to a folk song goes a long way! The Cort Earth Go in Open Pore Brown Burst is available from Thomann* for $431 / £382 / €439.
