Boss DS-1 White Limited Edition
The Boss DS-1 White Limited Edition is a limited run in this never-before-seen white colourway with a silver screw (modern Boss pedals usually have a black screw).
This classic distortion circuit was released in 1978 and has been used by millions of guitarists worldwide, including players like Steve Vai.
Simple to use Distortion
If you haven’t used one before, now is possibly the time to grab one and join the party. They have an excellent distortion character, and you can use a few simple tricks to make them sound amazing in your guitar rig.
The intuitive Level, Distortion, and Tone controls make dialling in superb drive tones easy. It responds dynamically to your playing, rewarding your skill and creativity.
Tricks to Great Tone
First, I suggest that you know how this pedal works. The design employs a transistor-based circuit with an op-amp core and hard clipping diodes to create its distortion. Many players misunderstand the pedal due to improper usage.
Consider using lower-output pickups like vintage-style PAF humbuckers or single coils to maximise its sonic potential. This pedal’s late ’70s design was optimized for these specific pickup types.
It thrives with a slightly dirty amp tone and doesn’t excel with clean amps. For optimal results, leave it engaged and use your guitar’s volume knob to control the distortion level, treating it as an integral part of your amp’s tone rather than a simple on/off effect.
Built to Rock
The Boss compact pedal enclosure was designed to be played hard and run from a 9V battery or a 9V DC power adapter. It is simple to use and will last a lifetime, so as I stated above, if you haven’t tried one, you should really check it out.
For those who want the classic orange aesthetic, the regular version and the Waza-Craft models are also available. If you need a little more, there is also the more souped-up Boss DS-1X Distortion.

this kind of crap is why gear costs so damn much. if the circuit is the same then there’s no reason to put those into production. there’s already millions of them out there, changing the color will have zero effect on the tone, therefore it’s a waste of time and most important, a waste of money. if yinz need actual new circuit ideas, I’m for hire
