From the moment you try it out, it’s clear that Cataclysm is more than just another distortion or bitcrusher effect. The core of the plugin, the Central Drive module, shapes sound through extreme waveshaping options, hard gates, and targeted tone coloring. Every knob movement dramatically changes the sound. The modeled tone circuits are based on three legendary guitar amplifiers, but not as exact emulations; rather, they are independent and almost broken reinterpretations. Reminds me of Psychic Modulation plugins, but even more feature-packed and wilder! Aberrant DSP is just getting better and better, but the prices remain low. Just how I like it!
