Introducing the 14-inch Apple MacBook Pro M6 and the 24-inch iMac M6, offering some improved specs for DAW-based music production.
Whether you need a compact mobile production workstation or a more permanent desktop fixture, these new M6-equipped Apple machines are ready to become the focal point of your production setup.

While the chassis design, connectivity, and available colorways remain the same, the new 14-inch MacBook Pro has a range of advancements across the board. With its dual 16-core neural engine and per-GPU core matrix-multiplication neural acceleration, the M6 offers 25% faster AI processing power compared to the M5 model.
Meanwhile, the additional GPU cores and architecture upgrades allow 30% faster graphics performance. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 are also new additions made possible with the N1 wireless chip, offering faster, more stable performance. What’s more, the 14-2 native screen remains a Liquid Retina XDR display, but you can now configure your machine with a glare-reducing nano-texture finish for an extra $150.
One of the most exciting performance upgrades in both the MacBook Pro and the iMac is the increased memory bandwidth, which is now up to 170 GB/s. This dramatically improves the performance of processing local Large Language Models (LLMs) and advanced Apple Intelligence tasks.
In addition, the iMac M6 now offers up to 2x faster read/write speeds with its internal SSD drive, while the 12-core option has the latest 2.5Gb Ethernet, which is great for server functionality. Overall, the iMac is the better value option, especially considering the previous model was the M4 and the MacBook Pro had a serious price hike.
Pricing and Availability:
Both the Apple MacBook Pro M6 and iMac M6 are available for pre-order, shipping in early November. The 14-inch Apple MacBook Pro M6 configuration starts at $1,999, while the iMac M6 starts at $1,499.
