You’re sitting on the couch in your living room, a few friends are over, and your guitar is in your lap. Wouldn’t it be fun to just jam? Show your friend the solo you’ve been practicing? Do a spontaneous karaoke night without a distraught neighbor?
See that knowing smile on your friend’s face when they see the famous Vox grille? Make no mistake, this is not a product copy. These are my thoughts on this tiny, affordable living room amp. Vox sound without the Vox volume. Great idea!
Vox AC Mini: Tiny Amp, Huge Sound
The Vox AC Mini was same engineers behind the Vox Hand-Wired series, which sounds promising already. This amp features what Vox calls an All-Analog Dynamic Response Circuit, which means there are absolutely no digital elements in the signal path. So, even the analogue purists might have to try this one.
According to Vox, the AC Mini delivers an authentic playing experience that feels like an actual AC. So you get that Vox sound, be it Brian May, Jeff Beck, The Edge, Satriani or Troy van Leeuwen.
Specs
For specs, the little Voc AC Mini is essentially a 10-watt solid-state power amp and a newly developed 3-inch speaker. For sonic versatility, the amp features a two-channel design (Green/Clean and Red/Drive) that you can switch via a dedicated button.
You get a boost, gain, tone (low shelf/high shelf EQ), volume, and the built-in digital reverb. With these controls and the two voicings, you’ll already be able to cover a huge sonic palette. Vox says that the AC Mini, like its bigger siblings, takes both single coils and humbuckers exceptionally well.
For added connectivity, the Vox AC Mini features a headphone output and a minijack AUX IN. That way, you can connect your phone and start jamming.
