Bellows Fuzz Driver

The EQD Bellows is a two-knob mini-format pedal (similar to last year’s Barrows) with a massive character. Described by EQD as striking the perfect balance between amp-like grit and fuzzy saturation, it delivers a remarkably authentic, vintage tweed tone.

The Level control adjusts your output by changing the transistor’s bias voltage. Don’t worry if you hear a little noise while turning it; that is perfectly normal. Next, the Drive control manages the input gain to dial in your dirt level. Turning it counterclockwise keeps your tone thinner and cleaner, while turning it clockwise thickens the sound with more growl.

It can get pretty raucous and sounds great in the demo below.

More Information

Silicon and JFET

The Bellows was designed to capture the explosive, raw sound of a non-master-volume tube amp pushed to its limit, placing it in a rare sweet spot where overdrive, distortion, and fuzz overlap.

Inside, the all-analogue circuit remains identical to the original, utilising a precise mix of Silicon and JFET transistor clipping. Outside, the pedal gets a sleek modern update with a compact, space-saving enclosure and brand-new artwork by illustrator Geoff Crowe.

Limited Run

They are limited to 1,000 units worldwide, and if you missed out on the original pedal, which came out during NAMM 2016, this is a chance to get the circuit in a nice compact pedal.

It works equally well on guitar and bass guitar. Jamie Stillman (the EQD head honcho) states it works well on any amp so that it could be a great solution for players looking for tweed-tone grit and fuzz-like texture on their rig.
