Sojus Records SD-1: Free Ensoniq SD-1/32 Emulation for your DAW!

Craving some retro digital vibes? This free and open-source plugin by Sojus Records brings the classic Ensoniq SD-1 Transwave synthesizer to your DAW for free! With its unique synthesis method that combined additive synthesis and wavetable-style waveform modulation, the SD-1 is capable of some really beautiful sounds that’ll send you straight back to the early ‘90s.
The plugin is a vibe-coded VST3/AU port of the MAME emulation of the early ’90s classic. It fully recreates the SD-1, including the original ROM waves, all editing parameters, and the effects engine. You can even load and save Ensoniq disk images and SysEx files. Sweet!
SD-1 is available for macOS and Windows in VST3 and AU formats.
TugPhonon: Vintage Rotating Tape Delay Plugin Inspired by the Phonogène

TugPhonon by developer Tuğrul Akyüz is a unique rotating tape delay plugin based on the legendary Phonogène created by Jacques Poullin and Pierre Schaeffer. Inspired by the historic predecessor of the iconic tape delays, this isn’t just an echo effect – it’s a sound-transforming instrument!
TugPhonon features a virtual rotating magnetic disk with eight independent playback heads, each with its own delay position, volume, pan, and feedback. Each head also has its own band-pass filter, allowing you to shape the tone of each echo independently.
But that’s not all: TugPhonon lets you go wild with creative sound design! The plugin also offers a choice of eight different physical modeling resonators per head, including Karplus-Strong, Comb, Bell, Pipe, Marimba, and more. There’s also an LFO with various waveforms for modulating the head positions. A delay that’ll literally make your head spin!
TugPhonon is available for macOS in AU and VST3 formats.
Cure Audio Scream: Massive’s Iconic Scream Filter in a Free Plugin!

Scream by Cure Audio is a free and open-source adaptation of the iconic filter of the same name from Native Instruments Massive – one of the most transformative software synths in history. Known for its aggressive, resonant tone and raw energy, this filter single-handedly helped shape entire genres of electronic music.
In addition to the Cutoff, Scream, and Resonance controls, the plugin offers dual LFOs with drawable waveforms, letting you create complex modulations and beat-synced movement. Each LFO lets you store eight curves and can be applied to the three filter parameters with adjustable intensity. Great stuff!
Scream is available for macOS and Windows in VST3, CLAP, and AU formats.
