EVH expands its 5150 series with two new models: the EVH 5150 DX and the 5150 DX QM. Both variants embrace the series’ Superstrat DNA while emphasizing modern vibes more than ever before. The focus is on speed, direct response, and practical features for stage and studio.

EVH 5150 DX and DX QM

The heart of the EVH 5150 DX is the new quartersawn baked maple neck with graphite reinforcements. This makes it not only an exceptionally stable neck but also particularly reliable in varying weather conditions.

They also feature a 12″- 16″ compound-radius fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets, which supports both fast leads and precise rhythm playing.

The familiar 25.5″ scale length remains, as does the modified C neck profile, and it has the hockey-stick head shape. The guitar body is also still made of basswood, which provides a balanced, mid-focused foundation, perfect for both high-gain and clean playing.

Floyd Rose

The EVH 5150 DX’s hardware doesn’t involve any experiments; it relies on proven EVH concepts. The top-mount EVH Floyd Rose locking tremolo with D-Tuna allows for quick drop-D tuning changes, while the EVH-branded Gotoh tuners keep the strings in tune.

Wolfgang

The pickups feature directly mounted EVH Wolfgang humbuckers, designed for high output levels. Control is handled by a three-way switch and specially tuned Bourns potentiometers: a smooth 500K volume control with treble bleed and a deliberately stiffer 250K tone control for more precise control.

Killswitch

The kill switch on the lower horn enables stutter and rhythm effects. The DX QM variant adds a quilted maple top, while the standard DX features more classic solid finishes.

The finish fade on the quilted maple tops is impressive, giving them a very Californian vibe. Especially with the retro ’80s hockey stick headstock. Classic with a modern twist!

Overall, the new models position themselves as a consistent further development of the series: familiar look, but with clearly modernized details for today’s high-gain and shred requirements.
