Strymon PCH X1 & PCH X2
DI Boxes are usually just a utility you need on stage. You wouldn’t think of these as ‘stylish‘ or luxurious. Well, Strymon thought differently. Strymon PCH X1 and PCH X2 aren’t just extremely well-built, active DI boxes. They look beautiful, too.

Depending on your needs, the PCH X1 offers mono signal flow, and the PCH X2 offers stereo. Both products are housed in a sturdy aluminum case, so they’re roadworthy and can take a beating. As is common with DIs, both require 48V phantom power to operate.
What inputs and outputs do the Strymon PCH X1 and PCH X2 offer?
For I/O, the Strymon PCH X1 has a single input and a 6.3 mm jack thru on one side. On the opposite side, you get the output as a balanced XLR-OUT. Next to it, there is a ground lift and a selectable high-pass filter: Off / 240 Hz / 90 Hz.

Consequently, for the PCH X2, you get two of each: two inputs, two jack thrus and two balanced XLR outputs. Inside, specially developed transformers ensure crystal-clear, noise-free sound and a flat frequency response from 10 Hz to 80 kHz. In addition, the PCH X2 also features a phase switch.
Why do you need a DI box?
At first glance, DI boxes may seem rather dull, and their usefulness may not be clear to beginners. However, depending on the situation, they can be invaluable helpers, performing a few important tasks.
For instance, these can be great to eliminate noise, such as ground loops or hiss, in the signal path. This can a particular problem when using amp modelers, where an unbalanced signal is often sent to both a FRFR monitor and a mixer (FOH system).
Additionally, these DI boxes can improve the sound quality due to their special transformers in the signal path.
How much do the Strymon PCH X1 and PCH X2 cost?
Both DI boxes are available at Thomann now. The Strymon PCH X1 costs $222 / £199 / €229*, while the stereo version, the PCH X2, goes for $319 / £288 / €329*.
